India is the only place in the world where black Africans ruled over non-Africans. A new scholarly book, "African Elites in India", Edited by Kennith X. Robbins and John McLeod, tells the story of powerful Indo-Africans who were rulers, statesmen, soldiers and builders of beautiful mosques. Dr. Robbins identified many Africans in the Deccani, Mughal and Rajput paintings which are reproduced among the 350 high qualty images in the book.

Kenneth Robbins has published more than fifty articles and three collections of slides dealing with Indian history, art, religion, numismatics, philately, and medicine. He is planning to lead a January 2008 trip to Jewish sites in India and is currently working on a book about Jews on India and Jews in India. He curated ten Indian exhinitions.
