Beverly Hills - Journey to Tanzania Silent Auction/Benefit for Teen Leadership
Description of Teen Leadership Service Project:

In August 2009, young adults and graduates of Teen Insight Leadership committed to the advancement of service and continual personal growth, will spend two weeks working with impoverished and orphaned children in Tanzania, Africa. We will be partnering with the Knock Foundation and the Matumaini Child Care Organization to accomplish our goal. The focus of this trip, taken by the Teen Leadership Graduates, is to refurbish parts of the orphanage and school, as well as, build a garden so the kids can eat healthy vegetables each day. We will not only provide assistance to their physical needs, but emotional and mental health, as well. Since Insight offers Self Awareness Seminars in a Heart-Centered Education format, the teens will use their specialized Insight skills of neutral, direct and loving communication to provide a Teacher's Workshop and lead a Student's Workshop with the focus on self-awareness, self-esteem building, intentions, clarity in communication, team building, leadership development and most of all, loving communication. The Teacher's Workshop will be based on the materials from "Making the Best of Me". These Workshops are currently used in some LAUSD Schools. Please visit http://educarefoundation.com/educ.htm for more details on the curriculum of the Teacher's Workshop. Both Workshops, however, will focus on the foundational concepts from our Teen Insight I; building self esteem and self confidence, intention vs method, loving communication with oneself and others, just to name a few.
