安藤美夜 (Miya Ando)是以纽约为中心的新兴艺术家,将于香港举办首个个人艺术展,展出全新系列的轻金属作品。她是备前剑制造商的后裔,小时候在日本冈山县一座寺庙中成长,与佛教僧人剑匠一起生活,后来迁居于加州,现于美国布鲁克林工作。她巧妙地结合祖先的传统技术与现代工业技术,灵巧地把光洁的不锈钢及电镀铝转换成短暂而泛着微妙色彩层次的抽象画。

安藤美夜以表层改造作创作核心,她通过以热能,砂纸,砂轮机,酸及铜绿在其金属画上所产生的不同化学反应,创作出反射光线的倾斜度。她每天如冥想的状态般重复这些技术,不断减少,还原,及提炼她的概念,以求达至最简单的形式。她谓:「我喜爱运用似是永恒的素材来设计,通过不同技术,唤起天空,水或空气的联想,就像从工业世界过渡至大自然」。

在表层改造的前提下,安藤美夜近期开始采用阳极氧化铝及钢,创作出一系列大型而色彩鲜艳的画作 - 由有限的工业染料定制出柔和红色,蓝色,绿色,粉红色,紫色及金色。Ando经常亲手将颜料涂上阳极氧化铝片上,它比钢轻得多,恰似绘画水彩画般。阳极氧化处理是将蓝宝石晶体电镀到所述金属的工业过程,令染料更容易与物料结合,凝造鲜明的色彩。由此产生的图案巧妙地使人联想到精致简约的风景,及抽象开阔的境界。

安藤美夜刻意似是而非地将金属与思想精神的题材搭配,一方面能与自己过往的历史连系起来,同时探讨自然世界与人造世界的无常及两面性。 她说:「我的创作是探索金属的双重性,于传达力量与永恒的能力的同时,它们亦能吸收多重颜色的转移,及捕捉短暂的光线,提醒我们大自然生活中所有事物的无常。」

安藤美夜于加州大学伯克莱分校取得东亚研究的学士学位,并于美国耶鲁大学修读佛教意象及图象。大学毕业后,她到日本著名的铁匠Hattori工作室当学徒,2009年到北加州公共艺术学院进行实习。她曾获颁多个奖项,包括2013年布朗克斯艺术博物馆「艺术家与市场」艺术奖,及2012年波洛克 - 克拉斯纳基金会的艺术资助。她的作品曾于世界各地展出,包括近期由Nat Trotman策展于纽约索罗门古根汉博物馆举行的展览。安藤美夜多次受委托为公共场所创作,当中最引人注目的是位于伦敦高达30英尺的雕塑,由世界贸易中心的钢材所建成,以纪念美国9.11事件十周年安藤美夜现居于纽约。

Half-Japanese, half-Russian/American metalsmith Miya Ando makes art through alchemy. A recent set of her wall paintings, which emit a “ghostly halo” through phosphorescent pigments painted under the dyes, will be shown at the Sundaram Tagore gallery in Hong Kong throughout February.
