新加坡圣德拉姆泰戈尔画廊隆重呈献大型艺术展「窈窕淑女」：歌颂妇女于国际艺术发展上的成就。展览由Jason Andrew策展，汇集了多位生于上一世纪的出色及新兴的女艺术家作品，包括著名大师Shirley Goldfarb、Louise Nevelson、Alice Neel及Helen Frankenthaler引人注目的艺术品，同时展出蜚声国际的Ghada Amer、张慧(Zhang Hui)、Shirin Neshat及尹秀珍(Yin Xiuzhen)等当代艺术创作，以这次国际性平台挑战及重塑大众对「淑女」一词的定义。
过去一百年，妇女已经走在国际社会与政治改革的最前线，不论是西方为妇女争取选举权或是阿拉伯之春的积极分子，妇女们一直扮演着举足轻重的角色，不断为世界带来革命性的变化。她们的艺术创作及行动主义超越意识形态的界限，重新塑造全新的社会，为我们所处的世界建立出全新的定义。当中，她们的艺术更成功使不同社会界别的妇女变得更自主，同时激发起不平等，贫穷，及社会排斥等辩论。
从历史上看，「淑女」是对社会阶级或地位较高的妇女的礼貌称呼。这次展览为这定义给予大胆的新面貌，作品挑战传统思想及其他一贯的「淑女」概念，概念大无畏及冒险精神，拒绝循规蹈矩。
此展览中「淑女」一词含挑衅性质。二十世纪初以来，世界各地，尤其是美国，妇女均群起反对一贯「女画家」的形象。著名美国历史学家Linda Nochlin指出：「这形象是来自19世纪的礼仪书籍，并透过当时文学不断巩固。」（1)时至今日，虽然妇女于艺术方面有显著的进步，可是社会对她们的期望与规范持续不变。开创性画家Lee Krasner甚至需要一再强调：「我是一位艺术家，而不只是一位女艺术家。」
妇女于世界各地的艺术圈，跟其他领域一样，要以无比毅力与决心才能成功，从她们的作品及生活就能反映出来。每位艺术家必须克服不同限制。某些限制是公开表明的，其他大多是随着过往传统的期望一直延伸，已经不容置疑。对许多女性来说，要得到大众认同有如一场艰苦的战斗，一场直至现时仍未能结束的战事。虽然世界各地的艺术机构及画廊一直增加展出女艺术家的创作，这数字远不及男艺术家的作品展。
「窈窕淑女」正正要歌頌及肯定國際間不同女藝術家的成就，她们勇于打破常规，重新编写历史，并将「淑女」一词现代化。展览包括古代，现代及新兴的美国艺术家创作，以及来自中国，埃及，冰岛，新加坡，南非及英国的国际知名艺术家作品，给予大众一个全面性的女艺术家作品展。策展过程拣选了不同艺术家的跨学科，多媒体，及跨时代的开创性创作，借以强调世界是充满了伟大的艺术家 - 当中许多都是淑女。
「窈窕淑女」展览由Sundaram Tagore Gallery与纽约的非牟利性艺术组织Norte Maar合作筹办。此展览曾于2012年纽约的1285 Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery展出，并由仲量联行(Jones Lang LaSalle)及该画廊联合筹办。

「窈窕淑女」并不打算作全面性的客观研究，而是非常个人化的选择，如万花筒般将我所尊重，敬佩，及欣赏的风格，图像及人物与大众分享。令我觉得最吸引的，是艺术创作的实体。不论是Louise Nevelson令人难忘的大型雕塑, Alice Neel富表现主义的画布，或是Viola Frey的陶瓷摆设，这些伟大的妇女充分显示出创作时那富触觉的过程及严谨细心的处理，为后来的艺术家奠定基础。— Jason Andrew
Jason Andrew是美国独立策展人及监制，活跃于纽约布鲁克林区。他是表现主义画家Jack Tworkov的遗产管理人。专门研究美国战后艺术，曾出版无数相关著作，现正编辑Jack Tworkov作品的分类目录。以捍卫不同风格或流派的利益作宗旨，其跨学科的创作项目填补艺术历史上的空白，反映出过去，现在与未来的创意想像。近期计划及美术展包括美国的Jack Tworkov：对抗极端，习画五十年（瑞银集团艺术画廊，普罗文斯镇美术协会及博物馆，2009年)；Jack Tworkov：意外的选择，1952年年黑山学院的艺术家（黑山学院博物馆及艺术中心，2011年)；「窈窕淑女」(1285 Avenue of the Americas Gallery，2012年)；Giacometti及当代绘画精选(Norte Maar，2013年)；苏格拉底的舞蹈（苏格拉底雕塑公园，2013年)。Andrew是纽约布鲁克林区布希维克艺坛的显赫人物，他是非牟利性艺术组织Norte Maar的合伙及负责人。
