Work by Miya Ando on view at Saint Laurent Rive Droite Los Angeles

Curated by Anthony Vaccarello, Creative Director of Yves Saint Laurent, this solo exhibition titled Miya Ando: Mono No Aware, features a re-creation of the karesansui (dry Zen garden) of Ryōanji Temple in Kyoto. Ando’s version of this historically significant garden consists of 15 shou sugi ban (charred wood) cubes, coated with silver nitrate.

Also on view: a monumental cloud painting from her Kumo (Clouds) series and silkscreen prints executed with micronized pure silver on paper derived from photographs taken of our galaxy.

The exhibition runs through May 13, 2025, at Saint Laurent Rive Droite Los Angeles, 469 N. Rodeo Drive, in Beverly Hills. Photo by Lorraine Young.
