Press Release

Please join us for the opening of Heads or Tails? Uncertanies and Tensions in Contemporary Thailand, an exhibition of work by six influential Thai artists examining divergent notions of present-day Thailand, a country experiencing great social and political uncertainties under military rule since 2014. Through painting, sculpture, collage and works on paper, each of the artists explores themes of duality and alternative possibilities from both personal and collective narratives.

Artist Tawan Wattuya will paint several fifteen-minute portraits of guests attending the opening as part of his Public Portraits Projects. The artist will add the portraits to his archive, which consists of images of people of various backgrounds and nations.

The curator will offer a brief talk with the artists at 7 pm.
