Please join Sundaram to celebrate award-winning film producer Suresh Jindal’s new book My Adventures with Satyajit Ray, The Making of Shatranj Ke Khilari. Jindal tells the story of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray and Shatranj Ke Khilari, the Bengali auteur’s most lavish and expensive movie—and his only film in Hindi/Urdu. He quotes extensively from unpublished letters Ray sent him, illustrating the passion, dedication and detail the acclaimed director brought to the film.
Jindal was a producer of Shatranj Ke Khilari, Basu Chatterji’s RajniGandha and Sai Paranjpe’s Katha; associate producer of Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi; and executive producer of Mani Kaul’s Nauker Ki Kameez.
Work by photographer Sebastião Salgado will be on view.
