加拿大著名摄影师Edward Burtynsky将于重点个人展览中呈献全新的彩色照片系列 -

Edward Burtynsky以壮观宏伟的工业景观摄影而闻名。2007年起开始拍摄全新系列 - , 是至今最庞大的摄影工程项目,记录人类大规模生产及消耗全球食水供应的影响。

为了捕捉大规模的环境破坏,Burtynsky游走世界各地掠影, 如到访中国长江的巨型水坝;踏足印度古老传统的阶井;记述冰岛戏剧性的森林砍伐及水土流失现象;及见证墨西哥曾经生机勃勃的科罗拉多河三角洲的荒漠化现象。作品色彩夺目,复杂精细,展示出人类如何干扰及操纵这宝贵的资源,导致大自然景观受破坏,污染,甚至被耗尽。

Edward Burtynsky的作品收藏于世界各地超过50多间博物馆,包括纽约现代艺术博物馆,纽约索罗门古根汉博物馆,巴黎法国国立图书馆,伦敦摄影师画廊,伦敦维多利亚与亚伯特博物馆, 及纽约水牛城公共美术馆等。

Edward Burtynsky一共拥有六个荣誉博士学位,并曾获2005年的TED大奖的殊荣。2006年,他获颁加拿大的最高平民荣誉勋章, 为加拿大国民的最高荣誉。其他荣誉包括国家杂志奖,MOCCA纽约独立漫画节大奖,亚尔国际摄影展拓展奖及Applied Arts杂志书籍奖。

2007年,Burtynsky为获奖纪录片Manufactured Landscapes的主角, 并于圣丹斯国际电影节播放。他与屡获殊荣的电影制作人Jennifer Baichwal及Nick de Pencier合作的最新纪录片Watermark,于2013年多伦多国际电影节作首影。

为配合本次展览,亚洲协会香港中心将于5月10日,星期六,下午6時30分举办纪录片Watermark放映会。纪录片详细记录Edward Burtynsky拍摄「水」系列的点滴。Edward Burtynsky届时将出席是次放映会,并回答观众的提问。放映会及票务详情已于亚洲协会香港中心网站公布。

本艺术展展出的相片收录于德国出版社Steidl近期推出名为Water的作品集。

Known worldwide for his beautiful imagery of industrial landscapes, Edward Burtynsky’s most recent series of color photographs titled Water will go on display at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery in Central. The series, which began in 2007, is the artist’s largest and most ambitious project to date.
