Press Release

Please join June Yap, Director of Curatorial Programmes and Publications at the Singapore Art Museum, as she discusses Singapore artist Jane Lee’s work, on view now in the solo exhibition Red States at the Hong Kong Arts Centre.

In Red States, a single hue and pigment is transformed into a spectrum of shades, shapes and elaborations. Yap will talk about Lee in relation to contemporary aesthetic practice, and its conditions in Singapore and the region. The lecture will be followed by a Q & A.

June Yap was formerly Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator (South and Southeast Asia), Deputy Director and Curator of the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore, and and an independent curator. She is the author of Retrospective: A Historiographical Aesthetic in Contemporary Singapore and Malaysia (Petaling Jaya: SIRD, 2016).
